Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a very useful technique which involves noticing what's happening in the present moment within ourselves and around us, without judgement. Most of us lead busy lives, either planning or thinking ahead, creating lists, doing various tasks and often multitasking. Mindfulness

This often prevents us from being “present” and “in the moment” adding to the daily stress and anxiety as well as creating a feeling of disconnection from ourselves.

Mindfulness encourages us to reconnect with ourselves and our experiences just by noticing ourselves and our surroundings.
With practice, we increase our awareness of ourselves, of the way we think and feel and this often leads to feeling more in control and more able to choose how to respond to our thoughts and feelings.

We feel kinder towards ourselves, calmer and more relaxed and our decisions and choices tend to be more in sync with who we are, leading us to a meaningful life. The technique has roots in Buddhism and meditation, but you don't have to be spiritual, or have any particular religious beliefs to try it.

I have been trained in mindfulness for many years and I often incorporate it in my therapy sessions with excellent feedback.
