Psychodynamic therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is derived from psychoanalysis and focuses in helping us understand how our current feelings and behaviour are shaped by our past experiences and relationships as well as our unconscious mind and conflicts. The relationship with the therapist is key to this therapeutic approach.
This type of work is a deeper type of work with ourselves and focuses on increasing insight into ourselves. Having an accepting and trusting relationship with the therapist encourages us to talk freely and openly about topics like our childhood and our relationship with parents without fear of being judged.
This can help us understand what we are feeling now, why we behave in a certain way and how this affects our relationships. It focuses on getting to the root of the problem in order to create long-lasting change and lead lives meaningful to us.
Psychodynamic therapy can help with many different problems, including anxiety, depression, addictions or sense of unfulfillment. Usually this type of work involves longer term work depending on the needs.
